Museum Expansion
Plans to expand the Minnesota Marine Art Museum were announced recently by the Museum's board of directors and construction has begun.
The approximately 6,850 square foot addition includes a 3,200 square foot secure gallery, 1,000 square foot multi-purpose area, 1,000 square feet of new storage area, and mechanical and corridor areas. Access to the new addition will be through the existing atrium and galleries and directly from an added outside entrance. Additional parking and landscaping are included in the project. It is expected that the gallery section will open in May 2009. The new gallery will feature a permanant display of Impressionist and Hudson River School painters. Admission and memberships rates will not be increased with the expansion.
